Fort Worth’s Longhorn Saloon got real rootsy, and real street-corner-funky, and just plain energized last Friday night, courtesy of a super-hip, fresh sounding, dynamic new quartet bearing the name, Jonny the Saint and the Velvet Hand — Yeah, you had us with the band name’s cool reference to the Beatles White Album classic “velvet hand” lyrics from Happiness is a Warm Gun. Talk about old school endurance, these guys churned out original after original after original over easily more than 2 hours – barely stopping to take a between-tune swig from a longneck.
